AarondelCohen.com is my new home
I’m moving to consolidate all of my posts/tweets/essays, photos and everything else I do to this new blog on Tumblr. Here’s why
1. Simplicity. It will motivate me to be consistent. One domain, one brand, one set of tools
2. Permanence. one url no matter the company, project, city, or anything else.
3. Unique: Aaron Cohen is not memorable. Aaron del Cohen is. There are at least 1184 Aaron Cohens in the world. But No Aaron del Cohens. The origin: My lovely wife is named Nina del Rio. Apparently the staff at Sotheby’s (and her boss) calls her delcohen. So I’m running with it. Those Sotheby’s folks are so creative
4. Integrated brand: Blog, Facebook, gmail, etc. Make AarondelCohen the standard. Unfortunately, I was early enough to twitter to get AaronCohen as my user name. So it’s not perfect.
5. Relevance: I’ve struggled with Tumblr in the past. Obviously @FredWilson and @bijan have been big advocates, but I have found it to be a scrollathon. What really persuaded me was the lobbying of Nate Westheimer and Mike Hudack and, most recently, Matt Lehrer who have been pushing me to really get Tumblr. Nate’s always giving me grief about not knowing key stroke commands and my Web 1.0 days. So I’m hoping this placates him. Innonate.com is still on Wordpress after all.
6. Community. I’m told it’s easier for my multitudes of fans to form a community at Tumblr. Well, to be honest, I just think my parents will probably enjoy this more. And my wife. I’m hoping to get the kids off of Netflix and onto Aarondelcohen.com, but that might be asking too much
7. The movie. Well no. I’m not really doing this for the movie, but I like to mention it when I can.
